The Grower
Fruits and vegetables in a variety of mediums and techniques. The gardener is the grower, thinking about what to plant next. I find that tending an artwork series is akin to growing a garden. Each work takes time to grow into fruition. There are original stenciled paintings of onions and turnips, laser engraved paintings of fruit, acrylic paint details, charcoal, graphite with ink, and moss with framing scraps and metal shavings.
SHAPES IN SPACE is a study of three-dimensional shapes placed in ambiguous fills of color, creating abstract spaces. The materials are mostly acrylic paint or aerosol paint on canvas. This study was often created in triplicate. Each canvas varies slightly but the similar shapes, colors, paints, but may vary to complete each work as an individual composition. Subjects occasionally appeared as some works progressed. Some are thoroughly abstract shape studies in painted spaces on canvas or unique scenery.
This mini series is a continuation of Shapes in Space. It is a study of a sketch on a larger surface and more permanent material. This time, the total canvas space is composed of six individually signed canvases. This was to create a larger available work space to accommodate for the use of aerosol spray paint techniques, and focus on more details evenly. The subject is a study of planets, light sources, surrounding light gradients, and atmospheres. Patterns and details emerged as the shapes and in between colors formed. The paintings were finished as individual entities.
